INHABIT THE WORLD

WORKSHOP CYCLE

A circular itinerary to transform the perception of our bond with the Earth, learning to be guided by its intelligence and that of its elements: earth, fire, water, air and ether.

What does it mean to inhabit?
How to become native to a territory again?

Being an inhabitant implies taking care of the territory where we are and reside as human beings; being aware that we do not own it and a feeling of gratitude for the opportunity to be there for a while. This feeling indicates awareness of the limits, as well as the fact of passing lightly, without causing a great impact on the Earth; with the intention of leaving something better for those who will come.

To inhabit does not mean having a physical dwelling, but an interior place; a center of reference from which to contemplate, think, share and act. A place from which action has meaning because it is in relation to others and to the whole from which we generate a common world.

TRAINING ITINERARY

A cycle of workshops where doing, feeling and thinking intertwine to weave a different way of inhabiting a common world

Inhabiting the World is an experiential training designed for people who want to get involved in the transition towards a plural and eco-centered civilization. The training proposal has a structure of six interdependent modules that form a wheel of life and knowledge. The modules are guided by people who have made their life a path of wisdom .

The training itinerary will take place over six Saturdays at Mas Franch , a farmhouse located in Sant Feliu de Pallerols, within the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park. Each one lasts a full day, during which we will combine learning, reflection and moments of rest and connection with the environment.

Although the program is designed to be followed as an ongoing experience, it is possible to participate in the different workshops independently.

THE WHEEL AS A GUIDE

Reconstruct a worldview that helps us individually and collectively solve current challenges

The world we have is the result of an interpretation constructed during modernity and as a consequence of the scientific revolution and industrial capitalism . A vision marked by the separation between nature and culture where the ideology of progress has generated a history of colonialism and exploitation that continues to condition the way we perceive reality and feel it.

Changing the glasses through which we look at the world and connecting inner experience with the activity of the mind is a necessity of the times. We live in a time characterized by not knowing how to respond adequately to the pain of the earth and other living beings, and our main challenge is to heal the separation between nature and culture, between matter and spirit, between mind, body and heart.

Trying to solve aspects such as the economy, ecology, and social problems separately makes no sense. We need to solve it at the root, resignifying a worldview that gives meaning to how we understand the world. We are part of this transformation that recovers the ancestral vision that everything is interconnected , in a vital fabric made of rhythms, cycles and consciousness.

A wheel that helps us return to natural cycles to understand our place in the complexity of the world

The wheel is a symbol of this learning, of this collective reconnection with the nature that we are. A wheel that draws a circle to return to natural cycles , as opposed to Western linearity, oriented towards productivity and the future. The cross situates us and keeps alive the connections between the greatest and the smallest, while connecting action and contemplation, and helping us understand our place in the complexity of the world.

There is no circumference without a center. Each part of this cycle, each module, takes us back to the center, to the origin, to the root, to with the aim of transforming ourselves internally and thus transforming the way we inhabit the world .

An introductory cycle where we learn about the Earth that we are ; this is the meaning of ecosophy, to listen again to the voices of air, soil, fire and water. The voices of the outer earth and the inner earth.

Inhabiting the world was a nourishing bath on every level.
An eye-opening to many layers of reality that were there but that I was not aware of: the historical memory of the place at every moment, the voices of the earth and the vital impulse that constantly communicates with us and that we have forgotten how to read (dreams, daytime signals, the body…). And above all, having a community with whom to rediscover this way of perceiving, relating and sharing the abundance that emanates when you connect with the Living World.

FIRST EDITION 2018-2019

1st year of Inhabiting the world

A training program designed to explore our place in the world and clarify how we can be part of a new era, a history based on myths different from those that have given rise to current civilization. New ways of thinking, feeling and relating, other interpretations of reality that bring wisdom and hope to future generations.

The first course, of 6 weekends, included practical workshops, silent retreats, walks in the forest, artistic actions, as well as participation in local and community activities, and is complemented by intensive seminars. A program based on coexistence in a natural environment from which we want to promote life and professional projects.

The first and second courses of Habitar el món 2018 (the first edition) took place at the Can Bordoi Campus, in Llinars del Vallès (Montseny).

2nd year of Inhabiting the World

Intercultural dialogue

Throughout the first quarter of the second year we paid tribute to Raimon Panikkar with a specific training that revolved around the meaning of intercultural dialogue with the intention of putting into practice, throughout the following quarters, intercultural dialogic experiences. Uniterra has Panikkar as one of its main references and inspirations. The whole and plural vision of the world that he proposes is articulated around interculturality, understood as a characteristic of reality itself and as an indisputable challenge of our time.

Collaborators of the training: Ignasi Moreta, Raúl Fornet Betancourt, David Loy, Àngels Canadell, Lluís Planas, Martí Olivella, Arcadi Oliveres and Satish Kumar.

Inhabiting the place

The second and third trimester, of 10 weekends, focused on sharing experiences of personal and social transformation from cultural disarmament, decolonization of the mind and body, intercultural dialogue, the recovery of local memories and knowledge, political commitment to global challenges, and the regeneration of living communities.

It included practical workshops, silent retreats, forest walks, artistic actions, as well as participation in local and community activities, and was complemented by intensive seminars. A program based on coexistence in a natural environment from which to promote life and professional projects.
